Wat you guys think of me getting a CRX, its $600, it runs and drives, thats all i need, it will be cheaper for insurance and gas than the camaro, And i'd have money left over for Tags and Some of the insurance.

busted up, i'd keep looking, anyone who crashed their car into that many things probably didnt take care of it in general and it would be more prone to stuff breaking.

Mr.Dave
You might wanna save up a bit more to put some of your money in a nice car, instead of dumping it into something not worthwhile at all.

eric
Get a job, save your money, get something that you really like. You'll be so alot happer when you get something that you like rather than something that you could get that will "just do"

SLP, you make more work for the mods than anyone else..I haven't moved a single thread that wasn't yours in over a month!

(oh, chat mods..keep a look out for things..thanks!)

lsr78
couple of problems with that.

#1 - No Ac. In Houston? Hahahaha.

#2 - one year too old. CRX changed over in 88 to a more realistic daily driver, imo. I had an 89 Si, loved it.

#3 - wtf is up with that hood?

cheap GOOD cars arent -that- hard to find

Ok, I wouldn’t touch that car if I thought a CRX was the epitome of all things good and holy!!! I think you better keep looking and try to find a diamond in the ruff.

That is if the pos would make it there. Now if it did, do you think that it would be able to revv over 4k in any gear without blowing up? Highway speed? Maybe, acceleration in the sub 20sec to 60? Me no thinky so.....

Dan, that thing is a piece of shit, at best. I'd give him $200 for it, TOPS. Save your money, and when the time is right, buy something nice. You've just gotta be patient, my friend. Don't go buying the first thing you see, because it's the biggest mistake you'll make.

I know you're a young guy and all, and don't like to wait, but really, man. Wait this one out. You don't NEED a new car right now. Just save your money and buy something that's going to do you a favor. You need a reliable daily driver before you buy yourself a "project." You CAN'T drive a "project," because you'll NEVER get ahead. Believe me. I know from experience.

Let me give you my advice: Buy the nice hotrod or whatever it is that you're into while you still live at home with your parents. Then, you just hold on to it, and keep it in good shape. While you are paying off your nice car, save some money as well, so that way you have some money to put down on a nice reliable car. Once you have that reliable car with a nice warranty, you save money for your project. ;)

Here's what I did.

I bought my Camaro at 22 years old, and have kept up on the maintenance as best as possible. Since then, I've met a wonderful woman, and moved in with her.

We bought a beautiful home a few years back, and have saved our money for nice things. But saving money takes making sacrifices. BUDGET. We worried about furniture and all that stuff first, and then I started saving money to fix up the Camaro.

Our allowed budget that we agreed on was/is $60 per week. Once it's gone, it's gone. I just save my $60 and don't buy anything. The next question you're going to ask is "How'd you afford all that stuff off of $60 per week?" Simple. Tax checks and overtime. The agreement is whatever I make in overtime, I get to keep half of it, and the other half goes in the savings account.

Now, I've got a 2002 GTI that I put $4500 down on. I've also got a gorgeous home, wonderful woman, and 2 great cars. Plan ahead. The way that you will get "the best of both worlds" is to budget and save.

Mr.Dave
Easier said than done Powermad, but you're doing it! It is the hardest thing in the world to save, and God knows we live in a society that doesn't just tell us to spend all our money, it tells us to spend money we don't even have.

I'd take his advice SLP. Get a job... anywhere! I don't care if you say they aren't hiring, they are somewhere. Hell, I wasn't above getting a shitty job and working for $5.15 an hour. Hell, I only make $6 at my part-time job... but that's where I save money (that and half of my paycheck from my full-time job). So, don't think about mods, lay of the cigs and cheap booze and start saving up for a real car.

I think that Dan would be fired for eating all the fries before they got to the customers. :D But, if you can hold a job at McDonalds your pretty well off. We hired a guy awhile back, had the same experiance as the other aplicant (sp) and we hired him because he worked at McDonalds for awhile and didnt have any problems. Plus you get cheap ass food.

My brother used to be hte night manager of mcdonalds, here you have to be 16 to get a job there, but On a better note, A friend of mine knows the store director for HEB, and is gonna try to get me a job.
