View Thread: Mitsubishi/Nissan grill Designs

Ok, I've been having some heartburn about the designs Mitsubishi and Nissan have been producing lately. The little area in the middle of the grill adds absolutely nothing to me and, considering the fact that both of them are doing it, takes away from the unique identity of each company.

I did some quick photoshopping to illustrate it.

First Nissan:

Now Mitsubishi:

Maybe it's just me, but I just don't see the benefit on the new grill treatments. What do you guys think?

i THINK... you've spent way too much time thinking about this :p

My photoshop skills are beyond your comprehension :fro:

It didn't really take much time, I swear :D

I strongly agree with you, MD. I think Nissan and Mitsu messed up on their grills pretty badly. :ghey:

Thank you, I'm glad someone does :fro:

I think the grill is a huge part of the overall appearance of a car, and is sometimes the area you notice first when a car is coming up on you. Their little add-ons in the middle just make them look odd to me. It looks like a nose or something :D

I dunno--I kind of like it on the maxima--I think they are pretty good looking cars in the right clor. Mitsu's are just pretty damn ugly across the board these days, though I don't mind the evo's as much.

mustangdriver
Yeah, out of all of them it bothers me the least on the Maxima. It's funny, the Evo grill doesn't really bother me but on the regular Lancer it does :D I guess that's what horsepower does to me.

Yeah, I was going to say the evo doesn't really bother me, but I may be being influenced by the performance... :p

Kind of like looking at a girl thats really built and saying "well, she's not SOO ugly..." :naughty:

Personally, I think these look a hell of a lot better than the new ones. My uncle has had both and says that he doesnt like the look of the new ones, just the engine.

mustangdriver
Yeah, I have always been a big fan of the last couple Max designs, the most recent in particular.

Quick cars too, for a auto V6.....

The older gen Maximas are pretty quick for such a bigass car. I drove my grandparents a few times and enjoyed it. I actually tried to get them to give it to me but my Grandpa wouldnt budge. :D

The Evo has the the bad grill too? I always thought it had the other grill.

The evo 7 doesnt have it and looks a hell of a looks a lot better

This is my favorite Maxima. I'd like to have one as my next car, actually... with a 5-speed, it'd be a pretty enjoyable car! Looks darn good, too. I have this thing for sporty sedans with manual transmissions...

The Nissans looks wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better without the "tooth". Nissan's tooth looks like a last minute idea, it totally destroys the cars look. The Mitsu's tooth looks more intergrated, it looks like part of the original design. I say Nissan should let Mitsu use the slpit grill design and remove the ugly tooth.
