View Thread: Anybody here ride MX?
Or any type of dirt bikes. I used to race quite a bit but it was a long time ago. I've been thinking seriously about picking up a bike this summer. Either a 125 and getting back into motocross and hare scrambles or some sort of enduro bike that I could license for the road and use for hare scrambles still and trail riding. Michigan's upper peninsula has so much undeveloped areas to explore, I think it would be fun and less espensive the constantly beating up my cruiser. I haven't been keeping up on bikes much lately though, you guys have any advice of new bikes that you'd recomend getting or staying away from?
Ok, so whoever gives Ksaile advice, please note that I'm interested in getting a similar bike for summer use. Probably a dual sport, or just a dirt bike, to tow out and learn to properly ride.
So what should I get? I have had only 40 miles experience on a bike, and that was at the MSF course. (yes, I checked the mileage :D)
Well I guess nobody here rides. I've always been partial to Kaw's since that was what I raced on mostly, then Suzuki my final season. I'm thinking either a KDX 250 for the multi use bike, or KX125 for the track. I know that a KDX isn't street legal stock but I'm pretty sure I've seen them modified to meet the requirements to be street legal. This looks tempting. Already sorted out and dialed in.

Ok, nobody has any suggestions for me at least? Screw Ksaile, give me advice :pd:
Now that's not very nicehttp://18.104.22.168/s/contrib/tweetz/moon.gif
Now is that a baboon's ass? Why would a yellow smiley have a red ass? Or did you spank it already, ksaile.?
Well I've really been chewing over this bike thing and I'm really leaning towards a new 2003 Kawasaki KX125. It sounds like a tight bike and I decided that if I get a bike I want to race some motos again. I was on a hike last night and my friend Ben came tearing up the trail on his brand new 2003 KTM 450SX. Damn, that thing is badass. That's the new 4stroke 250 class mxer. I decided at that point if I don't get a bike I'm going to go mad. I look at it this way too, with a bike, I wouldn't beat on my Cruiser as bad getting out into the backcountry. Not to mention floating a big set of doubles is so fun. There are some great rates and dealer incentive right now so I'm shopping around a bit. The other bike I'd consider is the Suzuki RM125, but I think the KX has it beat.
How much is a dirtbike like that Ksaile? I've ridden once and it was super hella fun. I'd like to get one someday.
The list price for the '03 KX125 is $4,700. My buddy's new KTM was a tad over $8,000:surprised
Yeah dirt bikes are so much fun. It's unreal how well they can soak up huge jumps and whoops. They are real addictive. After I quit racing I deliberately stayed away from them so I wouldn't be tempted to ride again. But now its been 12 years and I'm itching bad! I probably won't take it to the level that I did before, but I'd like to do some races more for the fun of it.
