View Thread: Car Skates
anyone know what these are? Ive seen some ads for em but im too lazy to go look at their website. Apparently they can increase garage floor size.... ?
you put em under your cars wheels are something, I was confused as well.
It makes it to where u can move your car easier, you put 1 skate under each wheel, and it makes u be able to just roll ur car without having to put it in neutral or anything........if im not mistaken
Sounds pretty fucking stupid too me. I mean, let's say you start rolling your car to one side of the garage, how the hell would you manage to stop a 1.5+ton automobile from hitting the other side of the garage. Seems like getting it to move would be the easy part. Stopping it would be a different story.
I've seen those. They aren't new either. They are just to facilitate moving a car around the garage/driveway. Useful if you have a car that is in storage. Other than that, I don't see the point. Apparently the good ones have high quality bearings and wheels so moving the car around is pretty easy though. Kind of like manipulating your boat as you dock it. But unless you're storing a car, I don't see much point.
yea, and like s4 said, stopping is the hard part.
good call evan. It's all about the momentum.
Well, I guess youll just have to be carefull.
Well, when that puppy gets its momentum up, it'll be quite hard to stop it!

The car skates work well. When you push the car, assuming your garage floor is flat, the thing isn't going to get away on you. As soon as you stop pushing, it stops rolling.
Perfect for hard-core home mechanics. Need to move your car when the engine or tranny happens to be out? The skates let you do that. There are lots of ways these things could come in handy.
Don't knock'em till you try em.
and good luck if the surface you are on has any kind of slant to it.
I guess the stupid question of the night is, "how does one get the vehicle on the skates?"
I guess a jack is the answer.
