So far at the end of Day 2 Sebastian Loeb (Citroen) is leading after yesterdays leader Marcus Gronholm hit a rock and spent too long trying to fix it. Damn! Gronholm's teammate Giles Panizzi who was figured by some to be able to win the Monte, retired after the penalty set him back 60 seconds and health problems. Both Petter Solberg AND Tommi Makinen went out yesterday (YEAH!). So it is now expected that Citroen will win (Without any major issues)
The Top 10 at this point:
1. S LOEB 3:08:54.0
2. C MCRAE +1:07.9
3. C SAINZ +1:45.0
4. M MÄRTIN +2:24.4
5. R BURNS +3:38.9
6. C ROBERT +5:11.5
7. R KRESTA +6:16.2
8. F DUVAL +6:36.0
9. A SCHWARZ +6:38.8
10. D AURIOL +6:41.7
As you can see there, Citroen is running 1-2-3. Team Peugeot is still in it, with Richard Burns in 5th and Gronholm barely hanging on in 13th. Another interesting note is that this was a very short day with only 3 stages because SS7 was cancelled because of fans parking their cars improperly. (Never heard of that before) SS12 and SS14 (same stage reapeated twice) is the second longest of the year with nice straights, so I'm expecting either close times or massive wrecks, depending on weather. Unless Richard Burns can make an impressive showing, I'm expecting Citroen to win, they hold a very comfortable lead.
Expect a full Monte Carlo report and the end tomorrow. Day 3 starts at about 11:00PM tonight PST.
