View Thread: Driving a new 350Z tomorrow.
One of my best friends Jason just bought a brand new 350Z today!!! He traded in his 3.2CL, actually got a real good trade in value for it. It's bright blue and I think it's the "Performance Model" if I remember correctly.
I'm taking it out for a spin at lunch tomorrow, can't wait. Badass looking car.
Is the Performance Model the highest trim level?
No, that's the "Track Model". Next comes the Touring model (heading down the ladder) which is more of a luxo-crusing model, and then the Performance Model (the one he got) which forgoes Leather, but has a lot of the other goodies like:
Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), tire air pressure monitor, 18-inch aluminum wheels and tires, Xenon headlamps, HomeLink Universal Transceiver, cruise control, Traction Control System (TCS), viscous limited-slip differential, aluminum pedals, day/night auto rearview mirror, dual illuminated visor vanity mirrors
Can't wait to drive it!
They have a lot more models than I thought. Sounds sweet!
Cool. The blue is probably the color I would go for too, though I don't mind the sort of charcoal color. And I'd probably go for the second or third model up too (can't remember the names). I do hate the way nissan bundles everything rather than really having an options list. I'd probably like to get the bigger wheels and Brembo's given the choice, and definitely the limited slip, but I could live w/out some of the other stuff you have to get thrown in.
Anyway, sweet--let us know what you think. I got to sit in one not so long ago and liked it, pending my own test drive. Most places here have them in the showrooms w/ no plans to take them out this time of year w/ all the snow we've had, but in a coupl emonths I'll take one for a spin myself. If I could swing one, I'd love to have one for a summer cruiser. Thats probably just a dream, of course.
I've sat in a couple and I almost test drove one a couple weeks ago. But the salesperson wouldn't let my friend and I take it alone so I was going to go after they got back. They took forever so I decided I'd just just drive it another day.
That day is today! And there will be no salesperson with us! :D
Theres a nice looking red track model 350z sitting down at the morgantown nissan dealership, the leather is alot ncier then I had guessed it would be
Yeah, there was a red track model where my buddy bought his car. That sucker was sweet! Big Brembos, the works. Pretty expensive though. I think I'd be pretty happy with a performance model.
I thought the top 350Z was only supposed to be around 34 or 35 grand? Maybe thats what the dealers get em' for. :)
to me the differnce between a $30,000 car and a $32,000 isn't that bad, but conidering i would be more then $2,000 happier with brembos and whatno, I just couldn't justify anything other then the track model :)....then again I'm the same man who also talked my friend's mom into buying a top of the line supercharged xterra instead of the base model :tahoe:
The Performance Model is selling for around $32,000
The Track Model (with Brembos) starts over $34,000 so it's a bit more than $2K...
That was fun!
Just drove the brand new blue Performance Model 350Z. Such a cool car. The exhaust is fantastic. On idle, it sounds mean. And on WOT, it isn't deafening by any means, but has a sweet sound.
Man I'm having trouble descriging it (shit there goes my automotive journalist career! :D ). It is definitely on my list now after that drive. I drove out to lunch and back. The blue is such a great color. There are so many silver ones floating around, this one just stands out so well. I think he ended up paying $31K out the door.
Man that was fun :drive:
Dude PD, ive spent about 6 hours behind the wheel in the track model of that car, and I have to say, its more fun to drive than an m3 or any number of cars, its street useable power, it sounds sweet as hell (cooler than the m3 for sure) the interior setup is all driver orientated, the shifter is short and secure, the seats hold lateral movement to a miniumum and the body panels resist being dented by the hordes of women bouncing off the car!
Yeah, I seem to remember you posting that you had spent some time in one. I loved that car. It's just a solid car overall. The doors have a secure feeling "thunk" when you close them and the interior is pretty sweet. I love the gauge pod over the radio. You can change the gauge all the way to the left to show all kinds of stuff. Digital speedo, gas mileage, etc. etc. Sweet!
I'm amazed you compared it that way to an M3, that's a great comment. I passed that along to my buddy via AIM (of course he's sitting across the hall :))
I just can't get over how much I liked that exhaust note. I loved going through the garage and giving it a little rev, it echoed through the place, pretty cool.
I want one now.
