View Thread: This would be fun
Wow, that would be cool.
How fast do you think one of those little bastards would go?
does it say how many hp it has? im guessing it wieghs well under 2k, prolly 1500 or somthin, so with a 4cyl, with a manual, say 200hp, id give it not a great top speed, but it would be more than fast enough.
I highly doubt it, probably closer to 100. Formula Fords today have ~120hp Zetecs in them. This one's a 1600cc.
oh wow, i really over estimated, what are the specs on todays Formula fords, this is a 86 so its a good bit old, but still a great looking car.
I'd hope it would weigh less than 1500 - I mean my Spit is 1700lbs so I'll randomly guess close a 1000lbs
That one uses the Ford Kent motor (also used in the early Lotus Sevens). 911GT2 is probably right with a 100hp ballpark figure. Not too powerful but with low weight ...
The new ones with 145hp Zetecs do 0-60 in about 4 secs and top speed of 140mph
I saw an 84 go for about 2500 here. Didn't know much bout it seeing it was a couple years ago.
$2500 would be a steal for the amount one could have on the track.
Thats what I figured too, they still have a bunch of simular Formula cars at that shop.
Id be so bad ass to have that as a street legal car, id like to see a cop try to write down what type of car he's writing the ticket for.
87 Supra Turbo
That would be like that scene in the Simpsons where Chief Wiggum is chasing I think it was Homer in Snakes car.
"I'm in pursuit of a....car....umm...it's red"
Or something like that. It's been a while since I saw that episode, or I've been :sombrio:
That sure as hell ain't street legal.
Hit a Suburban and you no longer have the upper half of your body.
But it would still be awesome to have that.
I'd think of it this way: the car would be chronically uncompetitive so you'd just use it as a weekend track car, and what would you pay otherwise for a fun weekend car?
Thousands more. If I had a track around here and access to cash I'd go for something like that. It'd be fun as hell to drive.
